Causes of Acne
What are the Causes of Acne ?

Many of the problems caused by acne come from the bacteria that is normally present on skin, a bacteria that grows in abundance, especially in
clogged pores filled with dead skin cells, acne can be caused by many factors including:-
- Puberty causes the body to produce an excess of the male hormone testosterone.
- Female menstrual cycles can also cause hormone changes in the body that throw the balance out.
- Over exposure to Chlorine can cause a long lasting and nasty type of acne.
- Anabolic steroids not only cause acne, they are also to blame for many other health problems.
Fortunately, most people outgrow acne as their bodies change and puberty comes to an end. And, for the great majority of the population,
they can be rest assured that the acne blight will have passed by the time they reach their thirties. Unfortunately for some poor souls
it may stick around a bit longer, but for the vast majority of people, as they pass into adulthood, time will have healed most
cases.
Blackheads or Whiteheads
This type of acne falls into the non-inflamed category. Basically a whitehead is a clogged up hair follicle that plugs
the skin pore and is made up of dead skin cells. Blackheads are basically the same thing, but the follicle has opened up and become
oxidized, creating a darker appearance. Common to popular belief, blackheads are not caused by dirt.
Pimples or Zits
Everyone is familiar with pimples and zits. These blemishes definitely fall into the inflamed category. They are usually red in
appearance, look inflamed and are sore. The red pimple is a prime example. The larger cyst is a bit more troublesome and can be
even more painful, it can also flair up again and again and may require medical attention. Pimples and Zits develop
when a whitehead does not turn into a blackhead and plugs the pore so that it can be expelled. Instead the pore wall breaks down and
becomes a vessel for oil, dead skin cells, bacteria and other detritus of the body. White blood cells collect in the blemish to fight
the infection, and form pus that can become painful. When looking for acne remedies there are many good over the counter remedies, natural
remedies and when needed, prescription drugs which can help in the treatment of acne.
